Text Model for Public Speaking

The basic text model consists of three main parts: introductory, argumentative, and concluding. Each of these parts has its specific function and purpose, which together create a coherent and persuasive speech.

How to build the introductory part?

It's necessary to interest the audience from the first words and draw attention to the topic or idea. For this, define the super-purpose of your speech in the introduction. Tell the audience about the "background" – how you came to your conclusions, or reveal the unique opportunities and values of your product.

Share the main idea. Your goal is to intrigue and motivate people to listen to you further from the first minutes, to provide something unusual and bright. The introduction should create an emotional connection with the audience and prepare them for perceiving the main material.

How to structure the argumentative part?

In the argumentative part, divide the text into several blocks. You may use three color palettes, each of them representing a sub-theme of your subject or speech topic. Tell about each of them in detail, reveal them with unique argumentation – examples and reliable facts.

Support each of your theses with an argument, defined by you with unusual and bright examples at the beginning of the speech. This part should be the most substantial and convincing, because this is where you prove your point of view.

How to complete the speech in the concluding part?

In the finale, bring all blocks together. Draw listeners' attention with a mixture of all palettes – the main messages you presented in each block. Add the main idea and an indirect call to action.

The concluding part should leave a strong impression and motivate the audience to specific actions or reflections. It should logically complete everything said earlier and give a clear understanding of what listeners should do next.

An example of the basic text model can be traced in Steve Jobs' speech to Stanford University graduates. His color palettes are three different stories united by one goal and purpose: to value life and remain true to your goals.

Before each public speech, fill the empty sphere with bright and meaningful colors. Remember: a successful speech is not only the right structure, but also emotional content that touches listeners' hearts.
